FOMA - Friends Of Math Academy
Friends of Math Academy (FOMA) is our volunteer parent-led fundraising organization supporting our Math Academy students and faculty. In collaboration with our faculty and administration, FOMA ensures that it has the revenue needed to continually provide vital programs and technology for students and faculty not budgeted for by LAUSD.
These programs include:
-
Providing technology to the classrooms, including computers, iPads, and audio/visual technology such as Smart Boards and Televisions
-
Educational Field Trips (such as Pali Institute, NASA JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and Historical Walking Tour of Downtown LA)
-
Funding for Teacher educational enrichment conferences
-
Supplies for the classroom
-
Special Events such as our annual school wide Pi Day celebration and Bowling Social

To fund these programs, FOMA coordinates a few fundraising events each year. Starting in August with the Annual Giving campaign, FOMA invites you to be a Friend and help reach 100% participation (see below). FOMA is a non-profit Private Foundation designated 501(c)(3) by the IRS and our donors can deduct contributions they make under IRC Section 170.
Monthly FOMA Meetings are open to everyone and take place either in person or on Zoom. Links to the Zoom meetings will be emailed out.
